Sioule riverside in the Allier, Auvergne
A four star campsite in an orchard by a lovely clean river famous for its trout fishing. Things go slower here, people are friendlier and life is less commercial. The Sioule valley has quiet country lanes and shady woodland, and is one of the richest areas in Europe for wildlife and wildflowers.
We have generous level pitches with shade, many of them actually on the river bank (and guaranteed mosquito free) all with electrical hook ups. All washing facilities are in individual cubicles, recently refitted and with plenty of really hot water (including a bathroom and children's facilities and facilities for people of reduced mobility).
Excellent take away meals, a shop and bar, table tennis (free), minigolf, table football, volleyball, a free library, free wifi and a peaceful, pleasant atmosphere. Close by are a riding school, a canoe centre and good tennis courts. The village of Ebreuil has several bars, restaurants and good shopping, just one kilometre away. It is easy to walk there.
Some people spend days without leaving the site, they find it so relaxing. But there is plenty to do and look at in the area : the Sioule Gorges, Vichy and Moulins, the Auvergne volcano park, the Puy de Dôme and plenty of chateaux, restaurants and picnic places are in easy reach when you want a day out.
